Vanessa Phipps Henderson
Executive Director
Vanessa Phipps Henderson has served as
Executive Director of Mississippi Health
Care Association since November 2002 and
oversees all of the operations of MHCA.
Prior to joining MHCA, Ms. Henderson had
many years professional experience in the
long term care field as the former Director
of Licensure and Certification with the
Mississippi State Department of Health. Mrs.
Henderson is responsible for MHCA’s
regulatory issues, program planning, policy,
legislative and legal affairs. Mrs.
Henderson is a graduate of Mississippi
College with a BA degree in Social Work and
Sociology.
Melzana Fuller
Melzana Fuller joined Mississippi Health
Care Association in February 2005 after
retiring from the Division of Medicaid where
she was Bureau Director of
Provider/Beneficiary Relations. Melzana
comes to MHCA with over 27 years of
experience in State Government. She
graduated with a B.A. in Social Work from
the University of Mississippi and received
her MSW from the University of Tennessee in
Nashville, TN. Melzana has the title of
Special Projects Director and is primarily
responsible for the Mississippi Health Care
Foundation and the MHCA Political Action
Committee (PAC).
Becky Martin
Becky Martin joined Mississippi Health Care
Association in August 2005 with over 15
years of bookkeeping and office management
experience. Ms. Martin manages the accounts
payable and receivable, member facility
dues, and payments for seminars and
conventions. Ms. Martin also handles
management of MHCA office and property as
well as manages all financial reports for
the Mississippi Health Care Association and
is staff liaison to the Association’s
accounting firm.
Gwendolyn Miller Causey, RN BSN,
CLCNN
Gwen joined Mississippi Health Care
Association in Causey January of 2007 after serving
as a legal nurse consultant for a local
defense firm. She is a former surveyor for
the Division of Licensure and Certification
with the Mississippi State Department of
Health. She is a graduate of Mississippi
College School of Nursing and is a member of
Mississippi Nurses Association and Sigma
Theta Tau International Honor Society of
Nursing. Gwen has the title of Director of
Long Term Care Quality & Regulatory Services
and is primarily responsible for education
and to assist member facilities with nursing
organization, nursing delivery issues,
quality of care and quality of life issues.
