EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualification to become the MHCA Director of Quality and Regulatory Services is equivalent to:

Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi, a minimum of five (5) years applicable nursing experience, with at least 2 years long term care experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Ability to use a variety office equipment
• Proficiency on personal computer to include knowledge of Microsoft Windows; Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; internet capabilities.
• Good communication skills including good public speaking and presentation skills as well as verb, telephonic, and grammatical abilities

LICENSES:

• Licensed Nurse in the State of Mississippi
• Valid Mississippi motor vehicle operator’s license (travel in the course of employment is required)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with membership and other MHCA staff in developing/implementing the following:

• Serve as MHCA liaison to Mississippi Board of Nursing, Mississippi Hospital Association, Mississippi Nurses Association, Mississippi Nurses Foundation, and other affiliated professional clinical groups.
• Serve as lead staff on Long Term Care Nursing Coalition of MS, Licensure & Certification Liaison Committee, Disaster Committee, and Education/Convention Committee.
• Coordinate resources, nursing or otherwise, to assist member facilities with
organization, delivery issues, quality of care and quality of life issues as well as survey and certification issues.
• Provide education and workshops to small and large groups on long term care related subjects.
• Contract speakers for workshops and/or seminars.
• Review and analyze trends pertinent to the delivery of services within a long-term care setting.
• Responsible for CEU applications and approval for all disciplines.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
